Someone give me a good reason I shouldn't just blast everyone with darkness and be done with it.

What weapons do they have? And tools, like cameras?

They've got guns. Small ones, easy to conceal, but that's still concerning when none of us are armed or appropriately armored. And there are definitely cameras all through this place. I can see a few fixtures that I'm fairly certain are cameras.

If you're planning on trying to get in here, you should expect that the entire place is under camera observation.

That's why I keep trying to get them to turn out the lights--the cameras. Even if they've got some fancy ones that should be able to see through the darkness, with the lights out, they couldn't possibly cut through mine.

That's... actually, that could be useful, once we've got people staging the rescue. Get someone to cut the power or dim the lights, and then you could provide additional cover?

Yeah! I can definitely do that.

Are there any windows where the captives are?

Not that I've seen. The cells don't have windows and I can't see any immediately outside them.

It makes sense. Less chances to escape, and you cannot tell where you are. You may be underground as well. It is advantageous to place a dungeon underground, with solid earth as an added barrier. That is a practice in my time.

That's entirely possible. I haven't seen the outside of this place. I went from the van they transported me in to some sort of indoor receiving dock. I'm sorry that I can't provide more information... I'm not sure that this much 'I don't know' will be terribly useful to you.
