Magic Questions (cw: truth champagne)
So. Quick questions.
How many Witches or Wizards do we have among us? I suppose Mages count too, but that seems a less formal term to me and 'magic users’ is a bit broad considering some of what some of us can do.
I'm asking because my own magic is… unpredictable and irreversifyible in it's outcomes.
Flying monkeys were an accident.
[Which is probably one of the oddest statements to hear anyone say outside of context.]
Before anyone yells, I'm a trained Witch and well aware of the risk and dangers of magic. I went to college for it.
I don't want to invade anyone's toes when it comes to specializations within a subset of this color magic. I just… don't want to sit back and be rescued all the time like some silly damsel in impractical footwear and a tiara.
...also if anyone could bring me more of that fuzzy water in Liminal I would appreciate it.

Besides, I can already swing a broom well enough to get away from someone.

...Flying monkeys? [Sounds like there's a story behind that one.]
I could bring you some, if you want. Where are you right now?
no subject
Yes, flying monkeys, Chistery isn't the only one of his kind.
I'm in the library, one of the study rooms.

[Someone else may be a little drunk too. ]
Flying monkies, though? Like that old vintage film?
no subject
Yes, flying monkeys. They didn't exist in Oz until the Wizard conned me in to making them.

And... dunno if you're interested but I've got a good replication of Quadling moons-shine in my rooms, otherwise I can bottle some fuzzywine.

[She... has Opinions now.]
Oh sweet Ozma, I haven't had that since I spent a snowstorm with a group of Oxen. The cold didn't bother us anyway, though we did bother the family of Squirrels who'd taken shelter nearby.

It's interesting to me that your magic cannot be undone, though. My own speciality is "Endless Magic", the ability to act, undo that action, and redo that action endlessly. It seems your specialty would be the opposite.
Of course, my transient endlessness mostly translates to manipulating Liminal matter here. I've also picked up a smattering of other methods while traveling, like Yellow Magic, Akuryuu Illusion Magic, and S. Tech. Frankly the places we go to are a veritable buffet of mystic knowledge, even in versions of modern Earth, which normally frowns on the supernatural.

It's... Transformation Magic. Giving Monkeys wings to fly, turning someone in to tin. It's just rarely the same specific outcome twice with the same spell.
Earth is ridiculous anyway, at least from my understanding of it.

It was only a burst of light though, not the usual willow-the-whisp I can conjure up.
Color magic? And.. what's a college? Sorry, my world is not as advanced as it seems most of the others here come from. [ Because she doesn't want someone boasting flying monkeys to think that she is just stupid]

Color magic is a type of magic from a jaunt that we can learn, it seems to be divided by archetypes that correspond with colors.
Colleges are schools for more advanced learning.

Blue does seem a rather useful sort of magic, though I don't think it fits with mine very well.
What's creation magic?

I should really learn Color Magic so I actually have something available to teach here.

While currently I only have domain over one persona, and I have not tested my ability to create more, I can use the magic that is at the hands of Thanatos without issue.

...Color magic, what's that?
no subject
Color magic seems to be a school of magic that's divided in to colors of the spectrum when it comes to archetypes.

And, uh, a Witch of Beatrice's kind too, although since most of the magic from her world just translates into Liminal Space stuff here it's mostly by dint of me having a mostly academic but quite thorough understanding of the way the magic of her world works.
(And if anyone asks me how, to you I say that Bea's autobiography is available to read in her library if not the library and reading it was how I learned her magic.)

There's no shame in having a knowledge of magic, knowing lets you know how to apply it later.

I generally need to spend hours drawing magic circles on a chalkboard, which is a pain in the ass... or I can just use an app for that and do it lightning fast.

The rest of that makes a lot of sense, actually.

I can't teach you my magic. Sorcery isn't something you just can decide to learn; you have to already have sorcerous tendencies. And then you damn well need to learn it.
[he pauses; the next bit comes out as a reluctant admission]
And it is...not always going to be useful. Not while Travelling, anyway.
[psychic protection II] forever
I think you're a fine Wizard, Matthew. Even if your magic isn't always useful. Your heart's in the right place.

[A bit of an understatement giving she's nigh on omnipotent at home]
I can still do a few things that didn't get reduced to manipulating Liminal Space.

I guess technically you could teach someone to use a Persona, but neither way to get one that I know of is particularly pleasant, and I definitely wouldn't wish a bout of yelling at yourself on anyone. The elementalism's a lot easier to pass around, though I'm not sure I could explain one that isn't water.
[And Elphaba may not be into that one for Reasons.]
