I can't blame them. I sort of crashed an alien ship not fifty miles from the Garrison after being a year vanished into space, neither of you were with me, I'd gained muscle and lost an arm, which was replaced by an incredible alien prosthetic, and I was yelling what probably sounded like gibberish to them. They didn't know what the tech could do and I was borderline hysterical. They didn't know my background while I was gone - how could they? So... yeah. They followed what was probably protocol to keep everybody safe.

Well, you're talking to a girl who loves eating but is a disaster in kitchen unless maybe it's baking, that one I could possibly handle or maybe I couldn't, maybe I'll test here someday. But back in my world I just still walk home yelling "Mom, I'm hungry!!♥" or one of my best friends or my fiance makes things for me to eat there.

I insist and it's totally appropriate between friends or even just fellow Travelers, who aren't my friends yet. Honestly I always tell people to call me that since the moment I meet them.

And she is really used to losing people. A sixteen year old shouldn't have been so used to saying / thinking 'just be reborn again' but that is how the cycle back home goes too often.

That's true. Nothing hurts like being separated from them, though seeing them being taken away without being able to do anything about it in that situation is almost as bad as that. I wish I could, dude. I really do. It's people trying to make gender be what they want it to be and not acknowledging that it's a fuckload more complicated than what parts you're born with, basically. People are trying to push back, but it's... really, really entrenched.

For added 'fun,' it actually started with the reverse color scheme. I don't know when it changed or why, but when people first started this bullshit it was 'oh, girls are too delicate to wear pink, put that on your baby boys.'

Originally, girls were blue because it was the color of the Virgin Mary and boys were pink because it's a lighter version of red, which is the color of blood.

I'm also not entirely sure why they swapped though.
