We've lost a lot of people lately who could either de-infiltrate people or bridge network divides, if not both. They're both useful things to have more of around, so if anyone wants pointers on either, I'm willing to help. This includes some of the building blocks, but not all.

Unfortunately, yes. Even bridging is 'find a weak spot in the divide and then punch through it.' [Naoki ignores the intrusive stuff as much as he can, really.]

De-infiltrating someone involves finding the kernel of them that's in the infiltrator's mind and bringing it up to the front. Actually giving them their own body requires getting into Thorne-san's goo tricks, which I'm still working up to, so regular de-infiltrating leaves them in a half-infiltrated state.

The handy part is, if you know who the person you want to de-infiltrate is at the moment, you don't necessarily have to know where they are.

You can't de-infiltrate yourself, but there's more than one case of people accidentally infiltrating themselves. That was how Armin-san discovered it, actually.

Nova Venezia was... weird all around. It was the first time we'd been somewhere that anyone who'd been around for Moebius had gone before that. I think what got worked out after the fact was he was chasing memory fragments a little too hard. I don't know if anyone's deliberately infiltrated themselves - or someone else, for that matter, though it's hypothetically possible.

[And even creepier than reading their minds in the first place.]

The other piece for that whole set - infiltrating, de-infiltrating, and the infodumps - I think is sharing memories on the network.

It was. [He did say it was Armin.] That was also the first jaunt where we had someone half-infiltrated. And everyone who'd been through Moebius going around having flashbacks, and half the locals hunting us down because they remembered the last incident just fine... [It was a goddamn mess, is what Naoki's saying. And that was before half the town caught fire.]

It's basically treating your own mind like backreading the network and then streaming the result instead of what you're currently experiencing.
