Is anyone else thinking Purgatory? Between the heat and the stuff on the tables being grouped in sevens, I'm definitely thinking Purgatory.

[Naoki's not sure yet whether that's a good thing or not, given how that jaunt ended, but it's certainly a thing.]

It could be. Certainly if it were just the groups of seven I wouldn't make this leap so quickly. Chariot seems to prefer throwing constantly-moving spaces at us when it can, though.

Locally, I think it's less 'wait to be prayed into heaven' and more 'hope you remember enough of your mortal life and deeds to actually go to heaven or hell, because it beats wandering aimlessly for eternity.' At least, for the people who aren't celestial or immortal.

Well, 'sin and virtue' pretty well confirms it, that being one of the big local commodities.

In some religious traditions, Purgatory is a place you go after death if you're not quite good or evil enough for a particular slice of afterlife.
