I think he really wanted to be useful to the war effort in a unique way. Allura could pilot the Castle of Lions, if he was out of commission, but no one else had tried to get a propaganda campaign set up before. He's not a fighter, or a stealth expert, or a tech expert, but he was essential to us learning how to be paladins and in keeping our morale up. He went a bit overboard sometimes, but I don't think he really understood how important he was to us. It's one of the things I want to try and fix when we go home.
Somewhere between Pete and Leena, then - I don't know if she's ever done away-team Artifact snags or not. Would've been before I got there if she did. She does admin stuff, Artifact shelving, making sure we eat something other than Artie's cookies.
That sounds more accurate to what Coran's duties were. Though if he arrives, I can recommend passing on the food. I'm sure it's very authentic Altean cuisine, but uh. It doesn't really match well with Terran tastes.
