So, um, I had a question for the people who've been here a little longer than me? Um, see, the last place we went, I sort of ended up coming back with a gryphon egg. Aaaand it may have hatched earlier today.

And I remember how to take care of it, mostly! So that's okay, um, just... well, first, I don't really know how to get him food? But also, um, I was wondering what would happen to him if I end up thinking I'm someone else again? Because if he's stuck here and I can't take care of him, he could die, and I really... really don't want that to happen.

When I was in Misericordia and was an unaware piece, Sakutarou turned into a mountain lion! So maybe your gryphon will turn into something too.

Is your gryphon cute? Is it a boy or a girl? I don't know what my egg is going to be. If it's a girl I'm gonna name her Syaoko and if it's a boy he's gonna be Tomosuke! How do you know when your egg is gonna hatch? I think mine should hatch soon.

He's a boy! I think. I haven't really come up with a good name yet, though... I want it to be just right and I haven't really been able to think of one.

Also, have you met Ladybird? Lady for short! Lady's Mr Daneel's gryphon! She's very nice. And she's happy to help people with baby gryphons! I know! I asked!

I used to be able to speak gryphon! When I was Green I had a spell for that, but I lost all the spells I knew when I was her when I stopped being her! But Ladybird can talk like a person too, just a little.

I'm gonna learn how to talk to animals again, though. Kanji said he'd help me learn how to green magic again!

I'm pretty sure I can make real food now, if you let me know what he actually... eats. As long as it's not, like, live animals.

I know a couple other people around here have gryphons or spirit animals, so they must do something with them when they're infiltrating... What're you gonna name him?

I... haven't really settled on a name yet. I need it to be perfect, you know?

...and I get that. I mean. In theory. I've never actually had a pet, but I used to daydream a lot about getting a puppy or a pony or something.

I've never had a pet either, but my favorite book series is the Spirit Morph Saga! It's about this witch named Lisa, and her familiar? He was a falcon, named Archimicarus, and I always wished I could have a familiar too.

A gryffon isn't quite the same, but it's still really cool!

Oh man, you should have been around during Questing Country. We all got to be magical girls, and we got... basically familiars. Only the Oracles' were actually called that, but they were magic talking animals that were supposed to guide us...

Mine was a phoenix. I named him Fawkes.

You can totally come and meet him! He doesn't have a name yet, but he only just hatched and he's so sweet.

Um. Am I doing it right? Anyway, if you can hear me, Kiga always has infiltrated with me, but if I'm myself I think I could check just to make sure he's not here. I might need a little help because I don't have the magic for getting in and out of liminal space, but that's only a little problem.

That's really reassuring, thank you! He's just a little ball of fluff right now, it's soooo cute, but I'd worry so much about him if I didn't think someone could look after him if something happened.

It is! Only Dragonlords and Truedragons can truly use mindspeech where I am from. Having that magic myself is a little daunting!

Younglings are always adorable, but mark my words, he'll be a right handful soon enough, if he isn't already! But ever so worth it. Kiga and I can look after him when you need a rest, as long as we're ourselves. We've got a fair bit of experience with taking care of younglings.

The only people with magic I know are the Crystal Gems, but they're really cool. I never thought I'd ever have magic, even if it's not exactly magic.

[ she laughs ] Well, that's when you prove you've got what it takes to raise a gryphon! That's what the older squires and gryphon knights said where I got him, anyway.

You got a gryphon? [UGH HE IS SO JEALOUS he wants an animal friend. his keep not coming back with him. ;;] But, um... yeah! Usually they Infiltrate with you, but sometimes they get left behind and then I'm sure other people will look out of r them.

I mean, I got him back in the last place we were in. I was a squire to a Gryphon Knight, and taking care of my own egg. But I guess he came back with me, and he hatched earlier today!

If you require any assistance with your gryphon, madonna Connie, I will do anything I can to help. I can provide food, and I know much about gryphons and other magical creatures. I am the, ah, "Mr. Leo" which Maria mentioned.

Companions - that is, spirit animals, familiars, wyrmlings, gryphons, Bits, and others - typically come with you into the Jaunt disguised as something which fits the setting, whether or not you are Infiltrating or Investigating. Rarely, they are left in Liminal Space, but... Liminal Space typically is something these creatures can easily explore on their own. I know he is a youngling still, but there are other gryphons who can help him learn how to defend himself on his own, as well as an array of spirit animals who would protect him if necessary.

I'm glad there are other gryphons to help us. I mostly remember what I knew about taking care of them, but it's hard to do by myself when I can't get him food, or make sure I'll even remember I have him!
