Now that we've been released, let's speak on where we are and what is going on.

For those of you new to our numbers, this is a Jaunt. We are brought to a particular world and given a task. What that task is...none can say. But it will be more apparent in time, and then we can take action.

[A pause, almost a sigh.]

However, we have to focus on a few things first, such as food and shelter, and finding our way around the city. We'll need to begin our search as soon as possible. Has anyone found anything suitable for us to use in the meantime? We should gather there and regroup.

And if anyone has heard about what was going on in the alleyway when we arrived? Or about the card that was left behind?

Remy suggested hostels or...flophouses, but we'll need money for that. Squatting's always an option but there's obvious drawbacks. I'm gonna try and find a newspaper, see if we have more options.

As for our little scavenger hunt: the place we were last night's called the Midnight Rose, and of course Remy deals cards there. There was also something about Bensonhurst and Gravesend, and how they're both company towns? And that not mattering if one's not "in the business". Any idea what that means?

I'm going to ask around in the alleys and at the churches. Perhaps someone knows of a place we can stay for the time being.

I...don't know what much of that means, unfortunately. We could ask around, but I imagine we might face some opposition if we snoop too much. We should tread carefully as we go.

Yeah, that's kind of the impression that I got, like there's some kind of rivalry between the towns. Probably best to try and stay neutral.

Speaking of which I told him me and a few friends were in from out of town, from a place called Kansas. That went over okay so if anybody needs a story then... there's one.

We will need to find what their territories are, then, in order to keep ourselves safe. Perhaps even form some temporary alliances, if it means getting this job done.

Corn. Tornadoes. Other rural things but there's also a Kansas City if folks wanna try being urban... or ignore me if they know better, which they might. Basically I'm pretty sure this is Earth, probably in the United States.

But yeah, I picked up a little notion that crossing either of them might be dangerous.
