[Actually, interfacing with the flowers is a pretty good idea, and one Leo hadn't thought of. He's used to being able to connect to things, but he needs the port - or the access in the matrix - to actually make the connection.]

So it's a mixture of experience and knowledge and if possible connecting to things? [At least that makes it reasonable that he didn't know.]
