Late in Liminal Space
Hello, darlings. We have had quite the difficult last couple excursions, and I think we need a bit of a break from all of the gloom.
So, I would propose a celebration when we find ourselves in our next Liminal Space, as, if I do not miss my guess, it is close to the end of the year. I know there are quite a few Winter Holiday traditions represented among us, so why don't we use that?
I personally would suggest a fancy dress ball of some sort, masked or not. We have enough of us who have the skills to create decorations, food, drink, and clothing, that I believe we could come up with quite the party if we put our heads together.
There is absolutely no need to be so serious all the time, so let's have a bit of fun. Please let me know if you would be able or willing to help with anything, or if you have any ideas of traditions we could participate in. Even if you cannot help, absolutely everyone is invited.

[A ripple of laughter, light-hearted and almost giddy, floats across the Network, and suddenly a flood of images - memories - washes over anyone listening.]
[Color and light and music and movement resolve into large, elegant ballrooms swathed in stately pine and holly and delicate decorations of gold, silver, and glass. People of all ages and genders fill the rooms to bursting, all laughing and talking, dancing and feasting, pressing warm kisses upon one another, flirting with glance and body language as much as words, and each one of them bearing the hallmarks of keen D'Angeline beauty. Masks of every kind - dominoes, half-masks, full masks, masks on sticks, masks with laces, masks attached to elaborate headdresses, gilded, silvered, leather, bronze, satin, lace, cunningly worked with beads and wire - animals, legends, gods and goddesses, automatons, sprites, ghosts, angels, demons, emperors, shepherds, daring, demure... anything one might think of, odds are you can find it in the crowd.]
[The observant will notice that the balls shift over time, the slightly archaic fashions morphing and changing, the themes rising to prominence and then falling aside, everything a little different, every costume trying to outdo the last. But no matter which ball it is, there is a constant: slender glass flutes of a clear, sparkling liqueur circulating among the guests, who pluck them up at leisure, toast one another with cries of "Joie!" and drink them down in a single motion before setting the empty glass back upon the tray.]
[The point of view turns to look out of a darkened, frosted windowpane onto the streets of a magnificent city, streetlamps casting a warm glow on gaily dressed party-goers wandering the streets freely as a gentle snowfall drifts from the sky and sparkles as beautifully as the huge white wall surrounding the city. Then the memory fades out.]
I may have a few ideas, my lady.
[Alcuin has not yet mastered the trick of being able to send tone of voice over the network, but in this case it's likely not necessary.]

The celebration of the Longest Night is the greatest holiday in Terre d'Ange.

I do hope you will save me a dance, my lady.

Yes, you should definitely come! Will you help me figure out the best way to add orange to one of my dresses from the Orrery?
