Holiday Reminder

Hey guys! I started trying to figure out the date again and realized something important. Since we had that month of Liminal weirdness that changed the Jaunt schedule, it shooould be about the middle of February. As much as that means anything here. You know what that means!

...well if you're from modern Earth, you know what that means. If you're not, it's Valentine's Day! It's a holiday for spending time with someone you love and sharing candy with them. Also with friends and family but maybe that's just a Japan thing. Either way, we can do it here.

Anyone who wants to try and make some chocolate, come meet me in the Workshop kitchen. Or...if no one's interested, can I at least get someone who can make ingredients? I need to make a lot of chocolate this year...

Anyway, go out and celebrate with people you love! If you don't have someone you love, celebrate with your friends! If you don't have any friends, I'll be your friend! Let's give PSYCHE-chan one more celebration before we start the next round, okay?

She is no different than the overly ambitious priestesses of Menzoberranzan, who use and manipulate those they can for their own gain. She did not deny that we are slaves, nor does she care what becomes of her toys when she's done with them.

...I see. Well, if that's the case, I feel a lot less sorry for her. I still believe in the things she supposedly represents, but I'll stick to promoting my own Arcana from now on if I do that for any of them.

I've met a few gods who claimed to be doing stuff for humanity's own good before. I told my friends how to beat the crap out of them. Trust me, I know.

Because I believe in what she said and implied she believes in. Connections. People helping each other out. Answering hard questions with "why not both?"

Plus, y'know, it's good manners to cheer up someone when they lose where I come from. Even if they're a huge jerk.

If I'd realized everything about her before I made this speech, though, I wouldn't have bothered. Sorry I brought her up.

She is manipulative, telling you what you wanted to hear to earn your compliance. That is how those like her function and I would not doubt the rest of them are the same. I find it... difficult to care about how she feels after a loss.

And honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if you're right. My trying to be polite's not like...an endorsement. I am sorry I mentioned her, really, but the response taught me a lot of stuff I didn't know before now.

I.. apologize for the harshness of my own response, but I have dealt with females like her all my life and refuse to willingly be subjected by such again.

I've heard that from guys before, and it doesn't really fly in my world, in my opinion. Yours is probably different, though.

[Drizzt has been quietly listening to all of this, letting his father handle it because Zaknafein does not need his child to rush to his defense. Only now does Drizzt interrupt, knowing that he has a perspective that his father does not: many, many years of living on the surface with human and dwarven women that drow females are an aberration. Zaknafein has grown much in such a short time, and Drizzt is quite proud of him.

Drizzt says this not in a callous way, no, never that. His tone is that of resignation and sorrow.]

It is quite different. If a human man saying such a thing, even a dwarf or surface elf, then he would deserve to be called upon a callous fool that lives only in a world that his mind has created for him. But my father and myself are drow elves, and the society of our birth is horrifically different.

Males are completely subordinate to females to the extent that we can be put to death for refusing a single command. Still, that is exceedingly rare, as a dead male is useless compared to a live one. More commonly, we are simply whipped or beaten to learn our place.

No one does. But what I said is a succinct explanation of just one small portion of the evil in everyday drow society, but the darker details do not belong openly on the network.

That definitely doesn't make my opinion of her any better. All she said to me was that winning would make her in a mood to be generous...

She offered the same to me. Placation, nothing more. A way to get us to cooperate without a fight. I have known countless like her. While she lacks in the outright viciousness of a drow matron, she is far too similar to ignore.

Well, she's out of the game, so at least you don't need to worry about her too much. I don't think she has much business with us now.
