mightypen: (don't talk about tartarus)

(no subject)

So, now that everything is going to hades in a handbasket... can I get out of Liminal and maybe save some lives?

Nobody deserves to be put in some eternal oblivion or shut away in Tartarus, not even the Olympians. Which, okay yeah I'm biased here because hey family, but...

Would you let any of this happen to some other group of people if they weren't gods?

Is it okay to send someone, human or not, to somewhere I can personally say is worse than Mobieus ever was? I've been to Tartarus, it's...

[There's a long pause, because it's something Percy personally tries to avoid thinking about.]

I'd rather deal with Mobieus again, in all honesty.

But, maybe if we're lucky we can convince the Titans to just... exile the Olympian gods to Rome? Or whatever Rome is right now, I'm not sure it's really a thing yet.... just. Nobody deserves what's been done to them.

Anything to make sure the magical kidnapper of their choice wins, no matter who has to suffer.

If you need a ride out, I'm happy to give you one.

[And would have been a week ago, so presumably they just haven't crossed paths.]

What happens if we can't convince them? Or if we have to reveal ourselves to manage it?

I'm not saying we shouldn't. Just trying to plan ahead.

Okay, but that's not even true. Anyone I know who actually cares who wins wants Chariot and the whole point of that is controlled progress, not Let's Set Everything On Fire. It's the least amount of people getting hurt.

I'm okay with kicking them to Rome.
fridgeninja: (taken aback!)

I'm not okay with it whether they're human or not. I just want a backup plan, if persuasion fails.

Yeah and Tower actually wants more badness. That's how Tower works.

Also I've been helping Claudia research stuff and Zeus and those guys don't even treat mortals like people. I'm pretty sure that some new gods who used to be mortals would treat them better. So as far as I see it, that is stopping future badness. It's just less dramatic kind of future badness being stopped.

I mean, don't the mortals here deserve not to get transformed into dumb stuff and be made to fall in love with weird crap or get knocked up by Zeus all the time?
fridgeninja: (beg your pardon?)

[personal profile] fridgeninja 2017-05-17 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
... That's an okay plan. If it comes down to it, I'll help.

And then maybe it's time for new new gods. The way the stuff we found made it sound like, that's what's supposed to happen, people getting new gods every so often, except Zeus ate his first wife and stopped it.

Maybe they all should get to be mortal for a while. Maybe then they'd realize what creeps they were being. That's how it worked back home with Marie. She's a way better person having been mortal than any of the other parts of Izanami were.

A permanent sentence in Tartarus will only increase the thirst for revenge. We just saw how that method failed us. I had hoped the gods might reach a compromise on rule, but I am not sure if they will meet. I cannot find them in this chaos, and I am not a trusted messenger to begin with.

The exile of an entire side of a war is a drastic measure—speaking to those Travelers who are not a fan of Tower, I thought you had wanted to avoid those?

[ Here he uses his subtleties, as in reality he doesn't give a flying fuck about the Arcana's game. He will only do right by the people of Achaia. Whether or not it aligns with an Arcanum is of no consequence to him. ]

Whatever else the Olympians and Titans are to each other, they are also family. They cannot allow the world to crumble simply because they do not like working with each other. Otherwise, they do not deserve to be stewards to their people. Call for the exile of those, no matter which 'side' they were on.

They will just come back. I am sure one of them can move faster than those metal flying machines. No, we will have to persuade them. Outright trickery is out too, as that will only anger them.
fridgeninja: (overlook dubious)

We can always try being honest.
highsteaks: (think)

[personal profile] highsteaks 2017-05-17 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, as long as we hold some stuff back. I mean there's a difference between being honest and telling everyone everything. I kinda suspect that might not be the best idea here.
fridgeninja: (hmmm?)

[personal profile] fridgeninja 2017-05-17 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
There are 'gods' betting on the outcome of this; our own fates are tied up in how this ends, and we want to make sure that, whoever wins, everyone is going to be all right.

Some of the best lies are seasoned with truth. What, in theory, shall we be honest about? Being foreign? receiving gifts from gods? making the Achaians our first concern? I assume that we are putting them before ourselves, however much we might want to come out of this in one piece. Otherwise we have no place in these negotiations.

Yes. We'll be leaving their world soon, but they'll have to work with it forever.

We will need to be clever regardless, but any harm befalling them can be seen as an act of war, no matter the source. This is a unique conflict. If some of us begin to speak to the gods, calling for peace, we are forced to make many of our actions in the light, despite being Travelers.
