So, uh, is there, like, anybody here who knows medicine? Or at the very least someone else who knows first aid? Healing magic won't work. Magic anything won't work. It's kind of complicated. Or maybe not that complicated?

Well, okay, basically it's that Imriel picked up this passive power negation thing when he was in Newport, which means that anyone in his immediate vicinity loses their magic. And you can't cast stuff from a distance on him either. Which is a problem, because that's, like, the main way people are healing things here.

(Oh, right, if you don't know, Imriel's one of the three youngest Travelers. You'll be able to recognize him because he's the only ten-year-old we have that's not Japanese.)

Anyway, uh, I found that stuff out today because I had to patch him up and my regular way of healing people didn't work and I had to bust out the kit. And then I thought, 'oh shit, what if I infiltrate next Jaunt, who's going to patch him up if he gets hurt then?'

So. Uh. Hopefully there's one of you? Otherwise, I'll see if I can teach people what I know just in case. I took classes from the Red Cross a few years ago, if you want my first aiding cred.

Okay, so. What I wasn't going to tell everybody, but I really think all of you guys should know--Alcuin and Melissa because you've both taken care of him, Phedre and Joscelin because he's from the same place you are--is that patching Imriel up meant having to get his pants off because he had a cut on his upper leg and. Well. There's a brand on his butt. Somebody branded his butt. And above that there were these other scars that I think maybe came from being lashed or something. And. Well.

Some really terrible shit must have happened to him at some point.

Unfortunately, I'd kind of figured that out, yeah. [and she is going to murder the shit out of anyone she can get her hands on from there.]

Yeah. I was kind of thick and I didn't realize how bad it was before I got told stuff. But I know from Alcuin that Delaunay--his lord--got some stuff out of Imriel when he was here two weeks back when Jules broke Liminal. Like that he got kidnapped?

Yeah. [...actually, there's a good way to get the point across.] That place that Liminal created around him after the island and... whatever Jaunt you were on? It was a fucking harem.

But yeah, that's what I mean about being thick, because I thought it was just some huge, trashed Middle Eastern-type place. And I was horribly, terribly wrong.

Put simply, I get why the kid has trust issues. His life has been way too shitty already. He's only ten. [and melissa has Feelings about Justice.]

Oh god. I'm... shit, I'm sorry. It sucks there's an evil you out there. Man, one of us is going to have to explain alternate world theory to him. I mean, not just for you, but for him. He needs to know you aren't a bad guy in your world so he won't have to be scared of you.

[Would evil Joscelin from Imriel's world have a beard? Maybe this is the wrong time to speculate about that. She's not even sure if Joscelin can grow a beard. Alcuin certainly doesn't need to shave.]

At least we've got Souji and Kanji to help explain. Thank god for the Infinite Number of Inabas.

Someone other than me will have to explain. The last time we saw one another, he pointed a gun at me, and I disarmed him. I tried to make him understand, but...

Since then, I have avoided him.

And yeah... that's probably the best idea for now. Shit, I'm sorry. Once he trusts me better I'll totally try to explain alternate worlds to him and get the Inaba kids to help.
