Drizzt Asks Important Questions

This is Drizzt Do'Urden, and I have a simple question: what does one do in Liminal Space beside read books? It is too small to have anything left to explore, unless one tries to scale the wall.

[He does not sound frustrated, but in a good general mood. Drizzt seems more amused about it than anything, and he figures someone will have a good answer for him.]

I ask because I am afraid boredom begins to strike at my heart with my blades still for so long, and I need something more to combat it properly. Perhaps one of you has advice?

[Drizzt's lavender eyes light up. He's accepting the challenge!]

It may take me a while to understand such a puzzle. Are you certain that you wish to send me on my way so quickly?

[A chuckle.]

Now? But I am not certain I can both work on this and keep a conversation going.

[Jules shrugs.]

You can still hang out.

'Hang out'? You mean spend time near each other for the sake of being near?

[He's done that before with his friends back on Toril. Quite often, truthfully. Sometimes words simply got in the way of existing. For a moment, his chest aches, as he misses them terribly.]

Yeah, pretty much. I can work on my side project in the meantime!

[He's pulling a laptop out of his Hammerspace now.]

[Drizzt looks up and furrows his brow in confusion. He wishes to ask about it, but he also doesn't want to disturb Jules. So for a few minutes, he goes quiet as he works on the puzzle.

Then, being a nerd, he can't help but ask.]

... What is that?

[failgoyle]

It's my laptop! I'm working on programming something so I can get the robot arm I came back from space with to do...I dunno, pull itself around and maybe grab stuff...

[Technology! It's great. Even if he just gave a horrible description of it.]

[naturaltwohands]

[Drizzt's face just screws up entirely in confusion, perhaps a bit of growing horror, and he doesn't know what question to ask first. So he goes with the one that's obviously disturbing.]

... Why did you cut off and steal a robot's arm?

[failgoyle]

I didn't steal it!

See, in the Jaunt, my infiltration had a prosthetic arm, and I...kind of came back with his robot arm sitting there in my lap.

It's okay though! He kind of needed a new one anyway; this one kept popping loose every time he freaked out.

[Drizzt's face just goes to one of utmost confusion. At least the horror is gone?]

Your Infiltration had the arm of another species in place of his own?

[Drizzt knows that robots exist but doesn't understand how they work yet.]

No, he just had a mechanical one made to replace the one he'd lost.

[Jules is confused because what is the confusion here?]

I am amused on now this thread is basically Drizzt being confused about modern/future stuff to Jules

How exactly does one replace their arm?

Oh, you just...well, in that Jaunt, they'd just build a new one. Like out of fiberglass and metal and little motors and circuits and stuff.

[He withdraws the arm in question from his Hammerspace and makes a waving motion with it.]

It is. And I also forgot horrified.

[Drizzt gives Jules a look of faint horror. He's chopped off arms before, but he's never waved them around so casually.]

But it is still an arm, if even replaceable.

It's just a construct of an arm, really...

[naturaltwohands]

[Okay, the word construct is one that Drizzt knows. He still looks wary and faintly horrified, but seems to relax a bit.]

... Then it has never been a part of someone's body? I thought you said it had been.

[failgoyle]

Well, I mean, it was a temporary, artificial part for my infiltrated self...

[naturaltwohands]

Artificial?

[And then, finally, Drizzt gets it, remembering Belwar.]

So it was an arm made for your infiltrated self alone?

[failgoyle]

Yeah! When he lost his arm, he had this one made.

[Jules wiggles it around a bit.]

It's not even a very good one; he needed better. This one fell out of the socket pretty often, wouldn't stay attached...

[Drizzt is a little disturbed by the arm thing still and doesn't understand how the robot part of it works, but at least it's not like someone's missing an arm. Except the person whose arm kept on falling off.]

Then why did he not repair the point at which it was attached? It seems silly to replace the entire thing. Was it not repairable?

You know, he kept trying and trying, but he could never get it right. I think the guy who put it in for him was kind of a dick and thought it would be funny to saddle him with a permanently screwed up pop-out arm.

[naturaltwohands]

"It most assuredly sounds like that is the case, then," Drizzt shakes his head in disapproval, scoffing a bit as he turns to look at his Rubik's Cube again. "I suppose there will always be craftsmen that do not take proper pride in their work."

[failgoyle]

"Some craftsmen," Jules says solemnly, "are tremendous dicks who would rather just screw people over for the hell of it."
