Drizzt Asks Important Questions

This is Drizzt Do'Urden, and I have a simple question: what does one do in Liminal Space beside read books? It is too small to have anything left to explore, unless one tries to scale the wall.

[He does not sound frustrated, but in a good general mood. Drizzt seems more amused about it than anything, and he figures someone will have a good answer for him.]

I ask because I am afraid boredom begins to strike at my heart with my blades still for so long, and I need something more to combat it properly. Perhaps one of you has advice?

Kind of old ways to store recordings of music.

Do you mean the notes on the sheet minstrels use for instruction? I do not play any instruments, nor can I read the notes. It would not be useful to me.

[Drizzt, welcome to the modern world. But what Jules said doesn't quite work with that description. Aha! Drizzt sounds brighter, suddenly certain that he has figured it out.]

Or do you mean something similar to the "movies" I have heard about?

Yes! Something like that, only with no video unless we find you a concert DVD!

It's seriously just a recording, like you play back what other people have already played.

... I assume that is similar to a CD? [SO MANY CONFUSING TERMS.]

A recording... Play back? [NO SERIOUSLY.] I suppose the phrase makes sense.

[failgoyle]

Yeah, only DVDs have video in addition to the audio.

[There's a pause.]

Yeah, that's what a recording is, it's a...a...thing you can play back.

[He is maybe not the best candidate for this discussion.]

[naturaltwohands]

[Drizzt just chuckles helplessly after several moments in silence. Yes. In his head. It's a bit hard to do but he's getting better at it.]

... Perhaps it will be easier if you show me in person, since I am already heading that way.

[failgoyle]

I don't know what I can do without a player, but I'll give it a try!

[He will be waiting...as just a gangly, unremarkable-looking human.]

... A player?

[This just gets increasingly complicated. Also, surely enough, Drizzt spots him in the distance and raises his hand in greeting. Guenhwyvar is at his side, as calm as ever.]

[failgoyle]

You need a thing to make the CD or the DVD play, pretty much.

[Jules sees them as well, and he waves.]

[naturaltwohands]

[Drizzt waits until he has gotten within speaking distance before he replies. It only took him a month to get here.]

That sounds needlessly complicated.

[failgoyle]

It's not that complicated, once you get the hang of it.

[Jules gets to his feet and waves. He's still tossing the cube up and down in one hand.]

You want this, at least?

[naturaltwohands]

I suppose it wouldn't be.

[Drizzt nods and smiles at the question.]

Of course. How else would I defeat boredom except with a cube?

[failgoyle]

[Jules tosses it over.]

Hey, it's better than nothing.

[naturaltwohands]

[Drizzt catches it easily in one hand, then begins to inspect it in both. It's a moment before he figure out how to make one row turn, making him grin again.]

I would say it is certainly better than that. The fact something like this could be constructed at all is fascinating!

I think you get used to it with manufacturing and stuff existing.

[naturaltwohands]

Maybe in time, but it will certainly be a while. There's still so much new to me!

[Drizzt is now twisting around the different rows on one side, then tries another, and grins widely at it all over again. He saw what Jules was doing with it, earlier, and is happy to remember.

Yup, he's also happy to be delighted by new things. Simple pleasures!]

It's a learning process.

[He watches Drizzt for a moment and decides to egg him on.]

Bet you can't get more than one side.

[Oh, it's on. Drizzt looks up to him then, smirking a bit.]

You mean to make more than one to be a single color?

[failgoyle]

Yeah, that's when it's solved. Each side is a single color. Bet you can't do it.

[He's really more teasing than anything with that bet.]

[naturaltwohands]

[Drizzt's lavender eyes light up. He's accepting the challenge!]

It may take me a while to understand such a puzzle. Are you certain that you wish to send me on my way so quickly?

What, did I say you had to leave and do it? Go on and give it a try here.

[A chuckle.]

Now? But I am not certain I can both work on this and keep a conversation going.

[failgoyle]

[Jules shrugs.]

You can still hang out.

'Hang out'? You mean spend time near each other for the sake of being near?

[He's done that before with his friends back on Toril. Quite often, truthfully. Sometimes words simply got in the way of existing. For a moment, his chest aches, as he misses them terribly.]
