We have a problem.

...Another problem.

[Usually, Varric's psychic communication comes along with a projected impression of his actual voice. This one doesn't.]

Someone's decided it would be fun to go around slaughtering entire villages with flaming arrows. They've hit at least one in northern Nakamiyo - Higura, if this map's right. It looks like the squad attacking took a position on high ground and fired on the far side of the village to drive anyone who escaped the first volley right towards them. So far, we haven't found any survivors, but we're still looking.

The archers were using fletching favoured by Koroshima's hunters, but if Near's right, the boots they were wearing scream Imperial Army. My money's on the Empire trying to make this look like an attack across the border by Koroshima forces, so they can make damn sure the provinces are focused on fighting each other, not on any kind of alliance. If that's true, they're not going to stop here - they'll need a few more attacks to really sell the story and blind everyone to any of the places where the evidence doesn't quite add up. If we can figure out where they're going to hit next, maybe we can get ahead of them.

If anyone else has experience with this sort of shit and wants to borrow a pair of eyes to get a look at this place, let me know. Just make sure you're sitting down first. It might take a while.

Unrelated to... most everything else, but I have a question for you all.

What are parents supposed to be like? Having them, or even being one.

I ask because I do not... actually know from first-hand experience. I never really knew mine and I have no children of my own.

[Someone has been hitting the truth sharing apples probably a bit more than he should have, so expect some storytime.]

Nice flowers.

Not that I'm complaining about being away from all the raging teenaged emotions, but what happened to get us all sprung so fast? I don't think we were at the Shambala any more than a week - definitely not our usual stay.

His Grace, King Robb Stark and I are feeling ourselves once more, we are in Liminal Space. May we perchance receive assistance on joining the rest of you? I do not have control over portals. This place may be of interest as well, Liminal Space normally holds some clue as to what is happening. Should anyone wish, I can share what I see inside your minds.

The Grasper... I do not know if it can be defeated. It would have their entire race enslaved as monsters.

Everyone, listen to me! We can get through this, as long as we work together. Convince as many infiltrators as you can to help, too. I know things are rough right now, but we have to try to stay calm, and work this out as a team.

If you are in the water, find a Siren as soon as possible and ask them to sing the Song of Breath. It will allow you to breathe water for a short amount of time. It is better than drowning.

The Damsel - if there are any mermaids near your ship, ask them to see if they can push your ship upright, possibly check for leaks. Then head for the south channel as quickly as you can. Fire at the Leviathan's eye or near its mouth when that is done.

The Harbinger - don't attack its limbs! Unless you can cut through them from the underside, your weapons won't cut through the armored plating! If you can still fire upon it in some manner, cannon or magic or whatever, we must aim for the Leviathan's eye or near its mouth. Those are the two weakest spots. I would suggest its eye because its natural instinct will be to let go to protect it, and then we can head for the south channel as well.

The Panlong - try to take control of the ship. There is some mass confusion on deck - that may help whomever is not busy use Liminal portals, if we can set up a chain of them, to appear over there and storm the wheel, and get the ship turned around. Once it's down the channel, try to convince any Sirens you find to sing a Song of Calming and perhaps prevent a frenzy of Stricken. I know some are frenzying already, but try to keep them away from the healthy mermaids if you can!

I will answer any questions as I can, but we must be moving now if we are to survive!

[It's a crisp voice that comes over the psychic network, somewhat deep but has a certain youth to it.]

Everyone who made it aboard a ship, check in and let us know where you are so people are aware you're not dead.

People are going to be asking questions soon enough, if they haven't already. We need a coherent story as to what "happened" to us and why we were out here in the first place. I've mentioned that many of us aren't sailors, but beyond that, no detail.

I wouldn't recommend drowning; it's really quite unsettling.

[ Yes, Jack drowned in the sea after being cast away from the Coelestis Maria and ended up washed back into the train station thanks to the Thalassia route. And now, water logged and half coughing up sea water, he's staring in bemusement at the center of the train platform. Because, unlike his previous experience with portals, this one just seems to be waiting for something. Which means... ]

Do all portals stay open once we move to a new place? I was under the impression they disappeared as soon as one was used.

[ which means, of course, that someone needs dungeon rescuing. Volunteers? ]

((ooc: In particular, Glen Baskerville needs rescuing and I thought this would be an interesting way to help the mun out (all volunteers welcomed)! However, I do know some others have idled out/need rescuing so if you want to jump on this as well and get them out too, I say let's roll with it. If you want Jack to help with that or form your own group, just let me know. ))

HEY! If anybody finds a black gryphon hatchling, uh, please bring him to me? I can't find him!

[She's trying hard not to sound worried, except it's failing a lot, because not only does she sound worried, she sounds panicked.]

... or a black anything, really, cuz last time he was a six-limbed mutant thing, so I guess he could be something else. But I want to make sure he's not drowned or on a pirate ship or anything, okay? So just-- you know-- let me know!

[So what everyone should be looking for, in fact, is a little black monkey. He can swim perfectly well, and he'll probably be making quite a squall. He's just too far from Neeshka for her to hear him.]

[Tim's mental voice is a drill-sergeant's whip-crack command, coming only moments after the Travelers are plunged into the water.]

Nobody panic! Try to keep the airwaves clear unless you need help. If you can't swim, shout out right now and someone will come for you. If you're a strong enough swimmer to help someone, let us know - but if you're not sure and not trained, don't try it. Find something in the water to hang onto. Get rid of shoes or boots if you have to.

Once we're sure we have everyone floating, tell us what you can see. All I have so far are rocks, in the direction the wind is blowing, and the remains of a sailing ship - Coelestis Maria is the name on the plank I'm hanging onto. Cute.

Unless the Trumps are trying to drown us, there must be something else out here somewhere. Land, or another ship.
